I love ghost signs. As a kid I would scan the countryside on vacations in hopes of spotting a barn or building advertising for Rock City, Meramec Caverns, Mail Pouch Tobacco, or soft drinks. I now scan the countryside, camera in hand, to record this rapidly disappearing slice of Americana.
Vintage soft drink signs recall an era of 5 & 10 cent bottles or drug store counters patrolled by soda jerks. I spotted this faded "Drink Coca-Cola" sign on the side of an old, brick building near downtown Tulia, Texas.
Did I mention that I LOVE ghost signs?
